Tuatara small

Species: Sphenodon punctatus

The tuatara is entirely unique in the world. It's fossil history goes back 225 million years and it has no surviving relatives. This means, although it is a reptile, it is not a lizard. Tuatara are carnivores that like to bask in the sun but are mainly active at night.
